The "AC band" has been playing a bunch, so this should be a good show to see how tight the band is performing at a great sounding venue for a nice price.  Aryk, Adrian, Pete and I have been warming up for this 45 minute set with a couple of 3-set marathon shows.  We're looking forward to playing a tight "rock-n-roll set" at the Double Door.  It's early on a Thursday night, so come on out.

Our good friend, the Houseman is hosting a benefit concert for Mardi Gras.  A great line-up of music, food and entertainment and a great cause.  It was fun rockin' out with the Houseman last year at Martyrs'.  I might make a short appearance with Houseman, but I'll definitely be there.  To get you in the mood, check out some great New Orleans, Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest photos on our friend Nunu's new website.

On Tuesday, March 8 the Hard Rock Cafe Chicago will host a benefit concert and fundraising party in support of the upcoming feature-length documentary LET THERE BE LIFE, which aims to raise organ donation awareness:

Houseman's "Let There Be Life" Mardi Gras Ball, Mar 8, 2011

Tickets available at: http://www.lettherebelifedocumentary.com/benefit-concert

The concert will boast a line-up of Chicago's finest talent including Funkadesi, the BS Brass Band, and Vance Kelly and the Backstreet Blues Band.   Special guests will include Grammy Award winning spoken word artist Malik Yusef with Damon Ranger of the Emmy Award winning rock group Blackbox and Theryl “Houseman” DeClouet, former member of Galactic and subject of LET THERE BE LIFE.

The event will include:  a red carpet arrival for celebrity and VIP guests; a meet and greet with the director and documentary subjects; screenings of never before seen teaser footage shot at the legendary Tipitina's in New Orleans; and a silent auction and raffle of donated goods, services, and rare music memorabilia.  Gift of Hope and the Living Kidney Donor’s Network will also be in attendance with educational booths and donor registration.

This Fat Tuesday celebration will be an authentic New Orleans experience.  In addition to the funk, soul, and classic Mardi Gras tunes the Hard Rock Cafe will be serving up complimentary New Orleans fare and New Orleans drink specials.

City That Works with Rhymefest at Martyrs

Big show this Thursday, June 17th at Martyrs.  It's "The City That Works", a joint music-comedy project of The Jordan Years and the amazing comedy-theater group Schadenfraude.  We are appearing in the TBS - Just For Laughs festival, along with such comedy heavyweights as Ellen DeGeneres, Cedric the Entertainer, Denis Leary, Patton Oswalt, Kristen Schaal (from Flight of the Conchords) and even a Second City reunion from the class of 1979.  None of those performers will be part of our show, but they are appearing around Chicago all weekend as part of the festival.  Check out the schedule.

In order to keep pace with the talent and star power at TBS Just For Laughs festival, we are bringing in great special guests.  We have grammy-awarded hip-hop star Rhymefest, performing a track from his new album (El Che) with The Jordan Years and also doing a comedy bit with us.  We also have legends of Chicago radio, Eddie and Jobo and furniture pitchman Tim Smithe of the famous Walter E. Smithe brothers commercials.  We also have comedians Joe Bill and Brian Babylon joining us for what should be an awesome night of comedy and music.

=====  Show starts at 9pm sharp.  More info over the jump.  =====
